(My second meme ever. I’m on a roll!)
So…why did I start this blog? Eight months ago my husband and I decided close up house and shop and life, all the while yelling “I’M GOING ON AN ADVENTURE!” Seriously, this was said many, many times. My almost twin brother even wrote a going away speech for me based on it. I’ve had many adventures so far, from the plethora of malls and hawker centres (think really cheap food courts with…interesting food) in Singapore, to Viet Nam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
BUT my biggest adventure has been a writing adventure.
I’ve spent the last eight months pouring all I have into writing my current novel, then revising and editing and re-writing—a labor of love and pain and sweat and tears and lost sleep that leaves you utterly drained (I SWEAR I rarely rhyme!). I want to write fun (and short!) things outside of a novel, about the struggles and (occasional) joy of a writer’s life. I want share my work with the world. I’m also kind of a random person and my head is often full of thoughts that I’d like to unleash on the unsuspecting internet every once and a while. Lately these thoughts have been around living in the singularly unique Singapore and things I miss from home (Madison, Wisconsin).
Mostly I want to write randomness for fun and hopefully connect with other writers and photographers and travelers and crazy, random people such as myself.

We’ve had more than our fair share of snow and cold this year but I don’t think I could live anywhere else. I like the season changes and the different activities we do in each season.

Seasons are amazing…. And so is the Midwest culture–which I didn’t really know we had until moving here! Gahhhh maybe I’ll just write a book about Wisconsin while I’m in Singapore.

Haha, well you can visit it. Matamata NZ. It’s all there, even the green dragon–which serves beer and food. All the hobbit holes are just fronts though. You can’t go inside or live in them 😦

That’s sad! I heard they were also re-building Hobbiton, full-scale, and liveable somewhere else???

A reconstruction of Hobbiton, sort of like those living history museums, but unfortunately we’d have to have humans as the reenactors, rather than hobbits.

I really miss Madison, but not the winters, at all. I left in ’83 and still think of it as a mecca Still , I doubt I’ll go back unless it a drive-by visit.

See, living in Singapore has really made me MISS winter and snow and seasons in general. It’s 90 degrees with 90% humidity every day. You just leave your house and feel disgusting all the time. Perhaps I wouldn’t miss it as much in a drier climate lol. Yeah I love Madison. Summers there are definitely amazing…Concert on the Square, Farmer’s Market, all the lakes and parks around it, walking around on State Street…. Anyway thanks for stopping by 🙂

Let’s not forget Nick’s, if it’s still on State Street. I loved Nicks and the Gyro place next door, I think or a few down. Last time I was there was 1991. The theater across from the Orpheum was great for plays, the old Mongomery Wards building included. I lived on the south side but my life was State Street and the Arobetum and the bike paths. Now I’m getting homesick! 🙂 I have to say Albuquerque is a good place to live, but next month I’m moving again. Florida this time.

Nick’s and the Parthenon are both still there. They built a new really nice theater venue called the Overture center across from the Orpheum. So many bike trails! And the Union Terrace! Yeah I’m homesick too haha. Good luck with your Florida adventures. 🙂 Look forward to seeing pictures from there.
