The Singapore Super Trees with Marina Bay Sands in the background.
Confession…Β I’ve been editing and revising too much. I have to get through my entire perpetually-nearly-finished novel by Friday to send it for development editing. I’m about two thirds of the way through. Now my brain….it’s…refusing…to work.
Has this ever happened to you? What do you do to recharge your brain?
Get out of the house. Spend some hours doing something completely different, and then make yourself a humongous cup of coffee and get back to work.

Oh, my goodness. Yes! My thoughts are being crowded out by some life events that are robbing me blind. I can’t see words enough to write them into something worth reading. My muddled thoughts just aren’t clear with all the clutter that has been stuck up there.
Lately, I’ve been getting out and soaking up some sun and fresh air: riding my bike or, going for a walk or, simply just sitting out on my patio sipping a glass of ice tea. Chocolate always helps too. π I hope it passes soon… for both of us.

Exercise definitely seems to help! It is an agonizing place to be, especially if you WANT to be writing and whatever part of the brain that does it isn’t cooperating. For me it’s a sign, I’m certain, that I need a break, but oh the joy of deadlines. Anyway, hope yours passes as well π Here’s to getting our brains back in order soon!

You could switch projects, possibly. Work on something else instead. Do you have another writing project on standby?

Haha I’ve got a sequel I can get started on. Mostly I just have to get the edits done so I can send them to be edited by Friday. After that, no writing for a few days lol. Thanks for stopping by!

Dude. Man… I feel you. I just got done revising my most recent novel and by the end of that third day, my brain was simply done. It’s a strange internal discomfort, somewhere around the sinuses and temples, like gremlins are drilling through your nasal cavity… or something. Anyway, I took a day or two off before kicking off working on the next project. And revising another one. BAH!

Gremlins drilling, ha! Nice! For me, it’s this pressure behind my forehead, maybe goblins smashing it or something :P. And brain numbness. Oh, and this irresistible desire to smash my computer lol. Beach getaway this weekend, hopefully that’ll help refresh. Ugh, anyway, happy editing, friend.

going on a long walk helps me to unwind so I can focus better when I try writing again. That and rewards, nothing quite like thought of a nice ice cream sundae waiting for me.

Hmmm ice cream, that could be a good idea! Thanks!

For what it’s worth, I liked going to the zoo and watching the raccoons, and overhear people coming around and saying “raccoon” in the many accents that you get in southeast Asia.
The picture of the Super Trees is grand, too. I hope to see the place in person someday.

I should go to the Singapore Zoo haha haven’t been yet. Thanks for the inspiration! And in Singapore accents get even more interesting with all the expats you throw into the mix.
The Super Trees are really cool. They have a synchronized music light show every night that’s really neat. Hope
